Goa is a dream destination for a lot of people across the globe. Apart from lazing on the beach and partying, Goa has plenty of adventure sports you can choose from and take home a handful of happy memories.

Dudhsagar Waterfall

The majestic Dudhsagar Waterfall in Goa rests in the high peaks of the Western Ghats and is a sight to behold, especially, in the monsoons when its flows intensely. When seen from a distance, the waterfall appears like streams of milk speeding down the mountainside. This spectacular waterfall is located in the Sanguem Taluka.

Dudhsagar waterfalls, situated on the Goa-Karnataka border, measures around 600m from head to foot and attracts a lot of visitors from the coast into the Western Ghats. After flowing across the Deccan plateau, the Mandovi River water forms a foaming current that splits into three streams and which form a deep green pool.

The Konkani name for these falls, whose literal translation is "sea of milk", originates from clouds of milky foam coming up at the bottom of the falls. Dudhsagar is set amongst breath-taking scenery overlooking a steep, crescent-shaped crest of a valley, covered with pristine tropical forest that is only accessible by train or on foot.

Grand Island

Your Goa holiday will remain unfinished if you don’t take the Grande Island trip in Goa. Also, called the Grande Island, Ilha Grande, and the IlhaGrao, this is the best spot in Goa for scuba diving and snorkelling. You can also try fishing and choose any one of the plenty of water sports activities that Atlantis Water Sports offer. Moreover, there are some wonderful beaches here, where you can relax and enjoy the beauty.

Scuba diving is even more fun here. This island offers some great dive spots highlighted by Atlantis Water Sports, suitable for both experienced and amateur divers.

Most Famous Dive Spots in Grand Island

Suzy (4-15m) – This is a sunken 135-meter vessel of the British origins. It drowned in the 1930s when the ship knocked some rocks in a strong sea storm. Fortunately, only 1 crew member died. You can still find parts of this cargo in a dive. The ship lounges on the sandy bottom of a small bay and is filled with mussels and tiny corals. They attract a lot of fish and crustaceans here.

Davy Jones Locker (15m) – Another submerged ship nearby the Grand Island.

Sailing Rock (20m) – An enjoyable and challenging dive spot where you can see a lot of aquatic life. The sea current is quite strong here, and at the Davy Jones Locker too, so these two points can be tough for beginners. They are suited for experienced and trained divers.

UmmaGumma Reef (15m) – This spot is the best one for beginners, and it’s one of the best places too. This is so because, here you have the chance to see reef sharks, lobsters, needlefish, sea cucumbers, turtles, and many more aquatic species.

Dolphin Spotting

Goa is highly abundant with dolphins and allows you to have a look at them from several places. But here in the Grand Island, you can spot an entire pod of dolphins, if you are lucky enough. Just beware when you are taking a boat to reach the island. You can miss the playful dolphins as they jump and twirl very fast. Just sit back, relax, and savour the trip.

Ensure you make full use of your trip to Goa and take home some of the best memories possible.
