Career Prospects for B.Tech graduates in ECE

Regarded as one of the core engineering streams, graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is a stepping stone for an eternal lucrative career. One may even opine sky is the limit as for the job opportunities. This is evident from the fact almost every entity under the sun is based on applications of electronics and software. With Nano technology gaining prominence, more venues and avenues would be in the offing for the ECE graduates. Hence a department in this branch of engineering is instituted on priority no sooner than a university or a college starts functioning.

The graduation leading to B.Tech or B.E is of 4 years duration. To obtain admission in an engineering college or one of the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), you have to clear both the Main and Advanced papers in JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). Although the all India rankings are the guiding factors for admission in IITs and government aided colleges, one can knock at the doors of deemed universities and privately run engineering colleges.
To appear in this, you must meet the following criteria:

·       JEE (Main)
o   Paper 1
o   Paper 2
·       JEE (Advanced)
o   Performance in JEE (Main) 2015
o   Age limit
o   Number of attempts
o   Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination

Periodically, every year, the government announces the patterns, dates and details of the JEE for the aspirant students. It is ideal to watch out for this information lest no opportunity is lost and one year goes waste.

However, your preference or choice of the institution to pursue the degree in Electronics and Communication Engg must be one that is committed to create an environment where the students identify and nurture their inherent potential.

It would be wise to ascertain relevant particulars of the course as well as the various facilities available at the chosen institution.

A study tour is undertaken in the final semester. At the conclusion of the course, most of the colleges assign their students to undergo short-term training in the industry. As usual, leading corporate houses visit the different colleges for on-the-campus selection of bright engineers.

Top engineering university in India like the Dehradun-based DIT University encourages the bright students to pursue higher studies leading to M.Tech or M.S and also appear in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) that is jointly conducted by the prestigious Indian Institute of Science and the seven IITs.
